Swagata Bhattacharyya (b. 1996, India) highlights the speculative narratives of existing power structures and how they shape our world through drawing, photography, and CGI. Creating simulated worlds that explore how modes of power influence policy, architecture, urban design, technology, and manufactured landscapes, Bhattacharyya opens up a new realm of contemplation unlike any other.
After completing his BFA in Painting at Rabindra Bharati University (2018) and his MVA from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara (2020), the artist earned the Inlaks Fine Arts Award (2020) and participated in the Khoj International Hybrid Residency (2021).
