Noor Al Suwaidi - Artists - Aicon Contemporary

Noor Al Suwaidi (b.1981, Abu Dhabi, UAE) is an artist, curator, and cultural producer with a career spanning two decades. Known for abstract and figurative paintings that frequently explore themes of divine chaos and the synergy between reality and dreams, her work often employs abstract shapes and colors, sometimes alluding to Arabic lettering. Suwaidi is also a curator and specializes in curating exhibitions of Emirati artists both locally and internationally including for the UAE Embassy in Washington D.C. and within the UAE for galleries in Sharjah and Dubai.

Born in Abu Dhabi, Al Suwaidi graduated in 2004 with a BFA from American University in Washington, D.C. In 2009, she obtained her MFA in curating contemporary design from Kingston University, London. Following her first solo exhibition titled Like Coral, I Create Clouds in 2011 at Cork Street Gallery in Mayfair, London, Al Suwaidi’s work was then placed in Auction at Christie’s. In 2012, Al Suwaidi was nominated for the Emirates Woman Award: Artist Category, and awarded the L’officiel Artist of the Year Award. Her solo exhibition, “Divine Chaos,” debuted at Aicon Contemporary in 2024.

Suwaidi is currently based in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
