Shradha Kochhar (b.1996, New Delhi, India) weaves together the narratives of women’s work and South Asian heritage. Her works are hand-knit of kala cotton, a strain of cotton native to India, crucial in her exploration of material memory on both personal and cultural scales. As she creates a physical archive of these narratives through textiles, Kochhar transforms her practice into a process of intergenerational healing.
Kochhar received her MFA in Textile Design from Parsons School of Design, and was awarded the John L. Tishman Environment and Design Award for Excellence in 2021. Her work is featured in PAPER magazine, New York Times, Times of India, British Vogue, Architectural Digest, Vogue, Crafts Magazine, Harper's Bazaar and others. Her most recent solo exhibtion, 'Domestic Cadence of Unraveling,' exhibited at Aicon Contemporary in June 2025. The artist is also the founder and creative director of Imli Dana, an independent textile studio based between Brooklyn and New Delhi.
The artist currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
